Punjab Kings’ highest score in IPL is 262/2, achieved while chasing against Kolkata Knight Riders on 26 April 2024 at Eden Gardens. That innings also holds the record for the highest successful run chase in IPL and T20 history.

Despite never winning the trophy, PBKS have produced some of the most explosive batting performances the league has ever seen. This list covers all five of their biggest totals, the players behind them, and what made each match unforgettable.

Complete List: Top 5 Punjab Kings Highest Scores in IPL

Here is the full picture before we break each innings down.

A couple of things stand out immediately. Four of the five top scores resulted in wins. And three of the five came in just 2024 and 2025, showing how much Punjab’s batting has evolved under newer leadership.

Also, their No. 1 total came while chasing. That takes a special kind of nerve.

1. 262/2 vs Kolkata Knight Riders, Kolkata (26 April 2024)

This is not just the highest score by the Punjab Kings in IPL. It is the highest successful run chase in the entire history of T20 cricket.

Let that sink in.

What They Were Chasing

KKR posted 261/6. Phil Salt (75 off 37) and Sunil Narine (71 off 32) opened with a 138-run stand. The Eden Gardens crowd was already celebrating.

262 to win. On paper, it was impossible.

How PBKS Pulled It Off

Prabhsimran Singh came in as an impact substitute and smashed 54 off just 20 balls. He hammered Dushmantha Chameera for 22 runs in the third over. PBKS scored 93/1 in the powerplay.

Then Jonny Bairstow took over completely. He reached his century off just 45 balls and finished unbeaten on 108 off 48.

Shashank Singh sealed the deal with an unbeaten 68 off 28 balls. He hit eight sixes. Eight. In the 16th over alone, he smacked Chameera for three sixes.

PBKS chased 262 in just 18.4 overs. With eight balls to spare.

The match produced 42 sixes, the most in any T20 match ever.

The match aggregate was 523 runs. The KKR bowlers probably still have nightmares about it.

2. 245/6 vs Sunrisers Hyderabad, Hyderabad (12 April 2025)

The second-highest PBKS total in IPL came during their breakout 2025 season. But this one ended in heartbreak.

What Happened

Batting first at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Punjab Kings posted 245/6 in 20 overs. Shreyas Iyer anchored the innings with a superb 82 off 36 balls.

Prabhsimran Singh (42) and Priyansh Arya (36) gave PBKS a strong start. Marcus Stoinis then delivered a devastating cameo of 34 off just 11 balls towards the end.

245 seemed like a match-winning total.

SRH’s Absurd Response

It was not. Abhishek Sharma scored 141 off 55 balls to chase the total down in 18.3 overs. SRH reached 247/2.

Sometimes you score 245 and still lose. That is what IPL 2025 was like.

This match produced a combined aggregate of 492 runs. PBKS batted beautifully, but Abhishek Sharma had other plans that day.

3. 243/5 vs Gujarat Titans, Ahmedabad (25 March 2025)

This was only the fifth match of IPL 2025, and the Punjab Kings made an early statement with this one.

What Happened

Batting first at the Narendra Modi Stadium, PBKS posted 243/5. Shreyas Iyer was magnificent again, this time scoring 97 off 42 balls. He missed his century by just three runs.

Priyansh Arya (47 off 23) gave PBKS a flying start at the top. Shashank Singh added a quickfire 33 off just 7 balls at the death.

That kind of depth in the batting order is what made PBKS so dangerous in 2025.

GT’s Chase

Gujarat Titans gave it their best. Jos Buttler scored 54 off 33, and Sai Sudharsan made 74 off 41. GT reached 232/5, but fell 11 runs short.

PBKS won by 11 runs. Not a massive margin given the total, but a win is a win.

4. 232/2 vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Dharamsala (17 May 2011)

Go back to 2011, and you will find a very different Punjab team. But the intent? Exactly the same.

What Happened

Adam Gilchrist was the captain and opened the batting. He scored 106 off 55 balls against RCB at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala.

Gilchrist was 39 years old at the time. Age really was just a number.

Shaun Marsh added 79 alongside Gilchrist, forming one of the most destructive opening partnerships PBKS has ever fielded.

PBKS finished at 232/2. They lost only two wickets in the entire innings.

The Aftermath

RCB were bowled out for just 121. Punjab won by 111 runs.

That 111-run margin remains one of the largest wins in Punjab Kings IPL history. When your opener scores a century, and your bowlers skittle the opposition for 121, that is called a complete performance.

Fun fact: Gilchrist’s century at Dharamsala was one of the fastest in IPL history at the time. The tiny mountain ground, with its short boundaries, was the perfect stage for his power-hitting.

5. 231/4 vs Chennai Super Kings, Cuttack (7 May 2014)

This innings came during PBKS’ best-ever league stage campaign. 2014 was the season they topped the table with 11 wins.

What Happened

At the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack, Glenn Maxwell played one of his most destructive innings. He scored 90 off 38 balls.

David Miller added 47, and captain George Bailey contributed an unbeaten 40 to push the total past 230.PBKS finished at 231/4.

CSK’s Response

Suresh Raina blazed 87 off just 25 balls in reply. But even that was not enough. CSK could only manage 187/6 and lost by 44 runs.

When Maxwell was in this mood during IPL 2014, there was genuinely no bowling plan that could stop him. He finished the tournament as the Most Valuable Player with 552 runs at a strike rate of 187.75.

Shreyas Iyer appears twice. His 2025 campaign (604 runs in the season) was a key reason PBKS finally reached another IPL final.

Jonny Bairstow’s 108* against KKR is the defining innings in Punjab Kings’ IPL history. No other knock has produced a result quite like that one.
